Love and Land, The Last Cowboy

We are city dwellers. We know buses, smog, apartments and elevators. Restaurants of all types, museums and malls, friends from all places.

Yet, we crave dirt, and open space, long walks and the smell of pine and smoke. We miss getting lost among the grass and having conversations with horses.

For a few precious weeks in the summer we get to watch the ever-changing light bounce off the valley walls and experience the magic that comes from spending every waking moment outside.

This place is in our bones, it rejuvenates our souls and gives us strength until we get to return the next time.

    Uncle Tim

Sadly in 2020, Uncle Tim said goodbye to this beloved place. His body could no longer hold onto the land. As he is aging and his body is breaking, he struggles with what will happen to his life's work and what will become of him. These photographs document the work it takes to maintain the land and the toll it has taken. But also the story of our family and how his sacrifices within this incredible landscape are woven into a single story about our connection to the land and each other.

"I wonder if folks could see the struggles, sacrifices, beat up body, torn muscles, and the many hours of labor (most when you are hurting) that go into taking care of the land we live on."
