Through Their Eyes
When I worked at the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) I was part of an amazing project called TESFA, which means hope in Amharic. TESFA sought to empower young married girls on the Amhara Region of Ethiopia with health and economy education, yet it proved to provide so much more. The final report can be found here: https://www.icrw.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/140406_ICRW_ChildMarriage_RptRev_pages4_lo.pdf
Below are a selection of photographs. The first set were taken during a community meeting among an eucalyptus grove in 2010. The second set highlights the photovoice project I created. I wanted the participants, these beautiful young married girls, to be able to tell their story. These are my images of the process. Their beautiful images can be found at http://www.care.org/sites/default/files/documents/Photo_voice_final3.pdf
